(Kindly review September 24, 2020 post, less than 2 months ago. This is a continuation of that report about Kinah…)
Proverbs 1-12
This morning we listened to Kinah quote from memory Proverbs 1-12! She started with chapter 1, and quoted in order chapter by chapter, every verse in proper order & sequence without any prompting from anyone. That’s 347 verses at one time! AMAZING!! Not only that — her goal is to memorize the whole book of Proverbs! The rest of the book contains 568 verses – totaling 915 verses in the book of Proverbs! That’s enough for quoting around 2 1/2 to 3 verses every day for a whole year!!
Not only did she quote the verses from memory, but during a time of discussion following, she also shared with us personal application insights of how she wants to apply it to her life! We were so-o BLESSED!
As was mentioned in the previous post, Kinah recently celebrated her 18th birthday. She is memorizing the book of Proverbs in her 2nd language — English, in a very articulate and masterful way!
What are the rest of us willing and able to do? How much do we value God’s Word? Are we willing to take the time, and make the effort to hide God’s Word in our hearts?
The book of Proverbs is notoriously called ‘The Book of Wisdom’. It is interesting to note that in I Corinthians 1:30 ‘Jesus is made unto us wisdom‘. The book of Proverbs has many wisdom nuggets that help us understand Jesus, and come to know Him better.
Proverbs 3:13-18 – Happy is the man who finds WISDOM, and the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies, and ALL the things you may desire cannot compare with her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
and happy are all who RETAIN her.
As mentioned in Proverbs more than once, WISDOM is more valuable than anything else that we could ever imagine! The Word of God is the source of wisdom.
Proverbs 4:5-7 – Get WISDOM! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. 7 WISDOM is the principal thing; Therefore get WISDOM...
OTHERS INSPIRED TO MEMORIZE
Today, when I asked Kinah how many others are being inspired to memorize, she mentioned around 6 other young people on their island that are also memorizing in Proverbs along with her, now. PTL!
I also heard that a team from there went along with their pastor on a mission to a village on the other side of the island before the storm, last week. They gathered around 50 people for a service and their mission team of young people shared so enthusiastically that the Pastor didn’t have much time left to share himself! Kinah also shared memory verses from Proverbs chapter 3 at that service, and some of the attendees there said they want to memorize in Proverbs, too! Glory, glory Hallelujah!!
PERSONAL INSPIRATION
Kinah calls me “Lolo” (Grandpa). This is part of a text that I sent her today after listening to her recitation in Proverbs. “I am joining you on Proverbs 13/14… I got stalled out for a few years, but I’m inspired to get back on track! Watch out, hehe… Let’s go…”
This was Kinah’s response – “Okay, I’ll try to catch up on you Lolo D” (with several smiley emoji)..
Looks like the race is on! Actually, I have a little bit of a head start (as I try to brush off the cobwebs & rust, and get into the review mode), but it doesn’t look like it will be for long, the rate she is going!
It is so-o exciting!! It is fun to cheer the next generation onward, as they whole-heartedly pursue Jesus & His Word! Hopefully they will go a lot farther, and be more fruitful, for God’s glory!
