THE BLOOD OF JESUS – 2

The BLOOD of Jesus is precious and powerful! (I Peter 1:19)

Here is a special testimony about the precious, powerful BLOOD of Jesus from John Wesley’s ministry.

When evangelist John Wesley (1703-1791) was returning home from a service one night, he was robbed. The thief, however, found his victim to have only a little money and some Christian literature. As the bandit was leaving, Wesley called out, “Stop! I have something more to give you.” The surprised robber paused. “My friend,” said Wesley, “you may live to regret this sort of life. If you ever do, here’s something to remember: ‘The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin!’” The thief hurried away, and Wesley prayed that his words might bear fruit. Years later, Wesley was greeting people after a Sunday service when he was approached by a stranger. What a surprise to learn that this visitor, now a believer in Christ as a successful businessman, was the one who had robbed him years before! “I owe it all to you,” said the transformed man. “Oh no, my friend,” Wesley exclaimed, “not to me, but to the precious blood of Christ that cleanses us from all sin!”  1

The BLOOD of Jesus is A MAJOR REVELATION from God! It should not be taken lightly!

THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS

I Peter 1:18-20 – …you were not redeemed with corruptible thingslike silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you…

Hebrews 9:7, 12 – He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood

Leviticus 17:11; 14life is in the blood… It’s the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.

IT PURCHASED MULTIPLIED BLESSINGS

Ephesians 1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ

I Peter 1:2-3Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness

The sprinkling of the blood of Jesus brings multiplied grace and peace (I Peter 1:2).

The BLOOD brings many BLESSINGs

I Corinthians 10:16 – The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the BLOOD of Christ?

It is the BLOOD of the New Testament (I Peter 1:9; I Corinthians 11:25-26; Hebrews 13:20; Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:20).

Drinking the blood brings life and an abiding relationship with God (John 6:53-56).
The blood flowed from Jesus side (John 19:34).
The Church is purchased by His blood (Acts 20:28).
We are justified by His blood (Romans 5:9).
We have peace through His blood (Colossians 1:20-23).
Our consciences are purged by the blood (Hebrews 9:14).
The blood brings remission for sins (Hebrews 9:22).
The blood is our propitiation for sin (Romans 3:25; I John 2:2; I John 4:10).
We are redeemed by the blood (I Peter 1:18-20; Colossians 1:14-15; Hebrews 9:12; Ephesians 1:7; Revelation 5:9-10).
The blood cleanses from all sin (I John 1:7; Hebrews 9:14).
Robes are made white in the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 7:14).
Life is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11; Deuteronomy 12:23).
We are protected by the blood (Exodus 12:13,23).
We are made near to God by the blood (Ephesians. 2:13; Hebrews 10:19-20; Colossians 1:20-22).
The Blood of Jesus meets all of our needs (Philippians 4:19).
We have eternal life through His BLOOD – (John 6:53,54; Hebrews 13:20,21).
Our fellowship is restored by His shed BLOOD (Romans 5:8,9).
It dissolves all of Satan’s legal rights of ownership – we are made overcomer’s through the BLOOD (Colossians 1:14,20; Hebrews 2:14; Revelation 12:11).
It puts God on man’s side against the Devil (Romans 8:31,33,34).
The BLOOD cleanses us from guilt (Hebrews 9:14).
The BLOOD perfects us in the sight of God (Hebrews 10:14).
The BLOOD gives us boldness to enter into God’s presence (Hebrews 10:19-22; Hebrews 13:12; I John 1:7; Revelation 1:5; Revelation 7:14).

THE BLOOD OF JESUS MAKES ATONEMENT AND BRINGS FORGIVENESS AND CLEANSING FROM SIN

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hebrews 9:7, 9, 25 – But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.

Hebrews 9:4,14 – It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins… How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Special note: God will accept nothing but the Precious Blood of His Only Begotten Son, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for atonement for our sins.

I John 1:7-10 – …if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

REVIEW (From Part 1 – see previous post for supporting verses)

Jesus shed His blood: so we can do the will of God; so we can be healed in our bodies; so we can have a sound mind & peace; so we have a clean hands and a pure heart; so we don’t have to sin; so I can have a new heart

When His blood was shed, it provided propitiation; justification; redemption; forgiveness; and reconciliation.

SIN SEPARATES MAN FROM GOD

Isaiah 59:1-2 – …your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Special note: Before we can know God’s power in our lives, sin must be put away from between God and us!

Hebrews 9:26 – …but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

FORGIVENESS FOR SIN

I John 1:8-10 – If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. •If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

The Blood of Jesus is FULL payment for our sin

Romans 3:23-25 – …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed…

THE BLOOD OF JESUS CLEANSES US FROM ALL GUILT OF SIN

Isaiah 1:18 – “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson they shall be as wool.

I John 1:7 – …if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship  with one another, and the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5-6 – To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Special note: Everyone one of us have sinned – everyone of us need to be washed in the blood of Jesus!

JUSTIFIED BY THE BLOOD

Romans 8:33 – Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

Special note: Someone has said that “justified” has the meaning of “Just-as-if-I’d-never-sinned”. The Word declares that “as far as the east is from the west, He removes our transgressions from us…” (Psalm 103:12). HALLELUJAH!

GOD IS FOR US

Romans 8:31 – … If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

Isaiah 54:17No weapon formed against you shall prosper…

NO CONDEMNATION

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

MORE THAN CONQUERORS IN CHRIST

Romans 8:37-39Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Revelation 12:11 – …they overcame him (Satan) by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB…

I Corinthians 15:57 – …thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The BLOOD cleanses us from DEAD WORKS

Hebrews 9:14how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

DEAD WORKS

Dead works are works that are life-less!

Revelation 3:1 – (Jesus said to the dead church) — “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead

Special note: The BLOOD of Jesus cleanses us from self-works. It cleanses us from all need to earn His forgiveness. It cleanses us from all need to ever pay Him back for what He has done. It provides us with the priceless gift of salvation that is not based on our works but upon His grace, mercy, and forgiveness based upon the BLOOD of Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 6:23).

GOOD NEWS

No amount of works can ever buy salvation. No penance or lent is ever necessary. No amount of fasting will ever earn salvation. No amount of giving will ever make you more right than the Blood. They are many good things that we can do that we will be rewarded for, but there are no good works that can buy salvation. Salvation is only made available through the sacrificial blood of Jesus.

ACCESS TO THE HOLY OF HOLIES

The BLOOD takes us into the Holy Of Holies – into the very presence of God! The Blood gives us “boldness” to confidently come before the Lord without condemnation, in a new way of life that is pleasing to Him.

Hebrews 10:19-20Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh…

Jesus the Lamb of God

Revelation of the Lamb

Isaiah 53:6-8 – …He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.

John 1:29 – …John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

I Pet. 1:19with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot.

There are many revelations of the “Lamb of God” in the book of Revelation – (Revelations 5:6,8,12,13; 7:9,10,14,17; 12:11; 13:8; 14:1; 15:3; 17:14; 19:7,9; 21:14,22,23,; 22:1,3)

Need for the sacrificial Lamb because of sin (Romans 3:23;6:23; I Samuel 15:23; I John 1:8; Romans 14:23; I John 3:4; James 4:17; Isaiah 59:12).

JESUS IS OUR PASSOVER LAMB (I Colossians. 5:7; John 1:29).

Exodus 12:3-13 (The Blood of the Lamb offered protection. It also offered deliverance. To receive the protection, you had to be in the house. The blood had to be applied. (It is not an imaginary thing) We apply it by speaking it, and praying it — we overcome by “the Word of our testimony ” Revelation 12:11. Jesus is protector, not the destroyer – there is a big difference between God protecting from the destroyer, and God doing it… The Blood is our protection…

Special note: Present day application -— there is very obviously a thief and destroyer in the world, but there needs to be a difference between the church and the world. Let’s apply the blood to our household the destroyer doesn’t get in where I live. When people see the hand of God, and his protection, and the blood applied to your house, it brings Him glory. The plague doesn’t need to come near our dwelling— claim the promise of God! (Ps. 91:10)

The Lamb takes away the sin of the world

I John 2:2 – …Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

John 4:42 – …“Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.

Forgetfulness – sad condition of some Christians…

Some are failing vividly, and daily to remember the COST OF THEIR REDEMPTION! We can enjoy God’s blessings, and become so occupied in Christian works… yet become cold, life-less, proud, over-sensitive, fruitless… They do not dwell ‘in the secret place of the most High’. They have ceased to dwell at the mercy seat, under the blood, taking their cross daily and following Jesus Christ. We need to remember DAILY the cost of our redemption! No thought so humbles us, none so exalts the love of God in us, none so warns or so inspires… when this thought lives and works in us – Christ is our effectual refuge.” 2

POWER AND AUTHORITY OF THE BLOOD

The BLOOD brings power and authority to the Word, and victory...

Revelation 19:13 – He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

I Corinthians 15:57 – …thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Special note: As we have seen in the above Scriptures, the BLOOD of Jesus is powerful! It is powerful enough to save us from God’s wrath, deliver, set free, help us overcome, protect, establish an everlasting covenant, make atonement; loose prisoners from hell; help us have an abiding relationship with God; bring unity; etc..

SPECIAL STORY ABOUT THE POWER OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS

Roy Rosedale served with Campus Crusade for Christ both in the States and abroad for many years. Once while he and his wife Eleanor were serving in Indonesia, they faced a strange and dangerous situation He writes…

“I was away on a ministry trip when this occurred. Eleanor had noticed earlier in the day that a former helper walked into our yard, and around the back and then out again without speaking to anyone. We had dismissed her because Eleanor had repeatedly caught her stealing. Later the same day, at the edge of our lawn by the street, Eleanor noticed something ugly that was also part of the curse ritual, though she wasn’t aware of the significance of either one at the time. But late that evening, as she stepped out into our living room she was overwhelmed by a sudden chilling awareness that she was surrounded by a circle of malevolent, invisible adversaries, focusing on her. Filled with fear, she whispered ‘Jesus!’ Then, ‘in Jesus Name get out of here, whatever you are, in Jesus’ name get out!’ But nothing changed. Filled with fear, she whispered, ‘Oh God, show what to do’. She got down on her face on the floor before Him, arms covering her head, and He caused her to say what no one had ever taught her to say, the thing that drove the adversary back: ‘The BLOOD, Lord, the BLOOD… over me, over the children, over Roy wherever he is, this house, oh, I don’t know what’s happening, but the BLOOD, Lord, the BLOOD.’ Whatever forces were arrayed against her began to recede until they were gone. She sat up and wept ad thanked God for delivering her.”

“We learned later, from the evidence, that the dismissed employee had bought a death curse from a black witch. It was intended to stop her heart in fear. Eleanor could understand how that could occur, particularly if the victim had to see what surrounded him – which mercifully God did not permit. Those who are not Christians have no way to dispel such forces. They literally are frightened to death. But to my knowledge, no Christians have died. Invariably they cry out for their King, and He saves them. (I heard that inability to kill Christians so frustrates Indonesian witches that some of them will no longer attempt it.)  It is my belief that when Christians call on Jesus, God’s angels come to their aid.” 2

PLEADING THE BLOOD, and  APPLYING THE BLOOD

Pleading the BLOOD is a very powerful weapon against evil spirits that would oppose our prayers. It should have a primary place in all intercessory prayer. It is important to plead the BLOOD of Jesus out loud. Since the life of Jesus is in His Blood, as we plead, honor, and sprinkle and sing about it, we introduce life into our worship. It is also helpful in seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We have the privilege, as sons and priests of High Priest Jesus, to sprinkle BLOOD for forgiveness, salvation, redemption, healing, protection, and victory3

THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD! (Song)

  1. Would you be free from your burden of sin?

There’s pow’r in the blood – pow’r in the blood;

Would you o’er (over) evil a victory win?

There’s wonderful power in the blood!

CHORUS

2. Would you be free from your passion and pride?

There’s pow’r in the blood – pow’r in the blood;

Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;

There’s wonderful power in the blood!

3. Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?

There’s pow’r in the blood – pow’r in the blood;

Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow;

There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood!

4. Would you do service for Jesus your King?

There’s pow’r in the blood – pow’r in the blood;

Would you live daily, His praises to sing?

There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood!

THE BLOOD WILL NEVER LOSE ITS’ POWER! (Song)

The blood that Jesus shed for me – way back on Calvary,

The blood that gives me strength, from day to day…

It will never lose its’ power!

It reaches to the highest mountain.

It flows to the lowest valley.

The blood that gives me strength from day to day,

It will never lose its’ power!
