The Holy Spirit will help you understand the truth as He teaches you about Jesus Christ.
JOHN 18:33-38 – 37 Then Pilate responded, “Oh, so then you are a king?” “You are right.” Jesus said, “I was born a King, and I have come into this world to prove what truth really is. And everyone who loves the truth will receive my words.” 38 Pilate looked at Jesus and said, “What is truth?”…
“What is truth?”
- Millions of people face doubt and confusion every day and wonder, “What is truth?”
- Many wonders if they can discover the truth.
JESUS SAYS, “I AM the truth.”
- JOHN 14:6 – Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too.
- In our culture, truth has become something that is relative. People say that there is no such thing as absolute truth. There is no such thing as right and wrong. Everything is right in its own way, shape, and form.
- JUDGES 21:25 –In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
- Many people try to live by their own truth. But in the end, they will all see that they were living by a lie. Only Jesus Christ can honestly and boldly say, “I am the truth.” So believe in Jesus because He is the truth without error.
JESUS IS TRUE, AND HE IS THE TRUTH!
- 1 JOHN 5:20 – And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
- Since God is a God of truth, it is impossible for Him to lie about anything.
JESUS CAN NOT AND WILL NOT LIE!
- HEBREWS 6:17-19 – (IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE…)
- TITUS 1:2 – A faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time
He Does Not Make Errors
- Because God is a God of truth, there will be no errors in His written Word
- God entrusted to man an instruction manual for life that is called the “WORD OF TRUTH.”
- 2 TIMOTHY 3:16, 17 – All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man or woman of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work
- JOHN 17:17 – Make them pure and holy through teaching them your words of truth.
- 2 TIMOTHY 2:15 – Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
For those who will accept the reality of God’s truth in “the word of truth,” God provides a special teacher of the truth – THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
- JOHN 16:13 – “When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.” One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to guide us to the truth as found in the Bible.
- There is a place that God has ordained as the place to hear and know the truth. It is the church – THE HOUSE OF TRUTH
- I TIMOTHY 3:15 – “so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.
LOVE THE TRUTH!
- HEBREWS 2:1 – This is why it is so crucial that we be all the more engaged and attentive to the truths that we have heard so that we do not drift off course.
- EPHESIANS 6:14 – Put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph. Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart.
- PROVERBS 12:22 – Live in the truth and keep your promises, and the Lord will keep delighting in you, but he detests a liar.
- 1 JOHN 3:18 – Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
THE POWER OF TRUTH
- Truth Has The Power To bring FREEDOM
- JOHN 8:32 –For if you embrace the truth, it will release true freedom into your lives.”
- The truth Jesus gives us releases us from the bondage of our past, the bondage of our sins, and the bondage of religion.
- Jesus was speaking these words to those who were not fully free from man’s traditions. Truth must be embraced and worked out through the divine process of spiritual maturity.
- The Greek word for “truth” is reality. Embracing the reality of Christ brings more freedom into your life.
- Truth Has The Power To SANCTIFY
- JOHN 17:17 –“Your Word is truth! So make them holy by the truth.
- The truth of God has the power to cleanse us and make us more like our heavenly Father!
- Truth Has The Power To REFRESH
- JOHN 4:24 –From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with a right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”
- the truth will make you want to worship!
- Real worship arises out of a heart that had been saturated with His truth.
- Real worship comes about when the Holy Spirit takes the truth of God and makes it clear to us.
- When we comprehend Who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and what He is doing; it will leave us at His feet in humble, simple worship of Him!
- if we do not understand the truth about Who God is and what He has done, then our worship will be warped. Until we know the truth about Him, we cannot truly worship Him! There is nothing like the truth to put a fresh spark into your worship!
Let’s “walk the talk, & talk the walk”…
- People can’t just do whatever they want to do – and get by with it!
- There is a way that seems right to man, but the end thereof is death (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25)
- JAMES 1:21-25 – (be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only)
- Our actions often speak louder than our Words!
- We need to be a lover of God’s Word (TRUTH) and live by it! (John 14:23,24; I John 2:5)
EPHESIANS 4:21
- 2 THESSALONIANS 2:10 – (some do not receive the love of the truth that leads to salvation)
- Some do not believe the Bible is the truth!
- Some don’t want the truth! They would rather believe a lie and live in deception.
- Some pridefully question God. They think “God didn’t really mean what He said” (like Eve).
- There is the ultimate, absolute truth – whether people want to believe it or not – the truth will prevail, and be revealed…
- So many are brainwashed by deceptive, devilish lies. These days, people habitually make up lies and tell them to the media as if they are true, people believe them because they trust the media more than facts, and get confused…
- We need to guard our hearts against stubbornly resisting the truth. Some don’t want to believe the Bible – so they choose not to… That is foolish!
- Some make the truth or falsehood into some kind of a light thing (a game) – they don’t take it seriously. They are trying to twist the truth – and make it be what they want it to be
- Many accept liberal lifestyles in the church – welcoming people who are not repentant of sin, but who continue to practice perverted lifestyles…
- We need to be willing to stand alone for TRUTH – in situations that force us to decide whether we will decide to obey God or ‘follow the crowd’. Remember Daniel who stood by his convictions, and the 3 Hebrew children who would not bow to the idol like the others…)
- Are you standing, like Pilate, in confusion and wondering… “What is truth?”
The truth can be known. It’s in the Bible. The Holy Spirit will help you understand the truth as He teaches you about Jesus Christ.
