II. Jesus’s church is triumphant, overcoming victorious church!

  • Importance of the church
  • Strong, healthy, victorious people

III. Jesus won the victory over the devil! Because He overcame, we can overcome!

  • John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
  • Revelation 3:21 – To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
  • Revelation 12:11 – And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
  • I John 5:4-5 – 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

IV. We overcome by FAITH!

  • We CAN experience freedom and VICTORY! – by faith!
  • Keep focused on Jesus (author and finisher of our faith) Hebrews 12:1-2
  • “Seeing” / “Hearing” / “Doing” spiritually

V. JESUS IS VICTORIOUS!

  • I John 3:8(b) – For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
  • I Corinthians 15:55,5755 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Romans 8:31-32, 37 – If God is for us, who can be against us?… we are more than conquerors through Him!

VI. Let’s be OVERCOMERS!

  • Romans 12:21 – Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good!
  • I John 4:4 – You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
  • Revelation 12:11 – And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony,
  • Romans 8:1-2, 31-34,39 – (share more of the context…) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death… If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

VII. All things under His/(Our) feet!

  • Ephesians 1:18-23 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality[b] and [c]power and [d]might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
  • I Corinthians 15:24-27 – For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For “He has put all things under His feet.”

VIII. Mighty Spiritual Weapons

  • Blood of Jesus
  • Word – Truth
  • Holy Spirit
  • Words of testimony
  • Prayer
  • 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
  • Ephesians 6:10-18 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

IX. Fight off temptation to sin

  • James 1:13-15 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
  • I Corinthians 10:13 –  No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
  • Matthew 6:31; 26:41 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
  • Luke 8:13 – But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.
  • James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

  • James 4:7 – Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
  • Psalm 98:1 – Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.
  • Power over sin
    • I John 4:4 – You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

  • Micah 3:8 – But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, and of justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.
  • Ephesians 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
  • Luke 11:13 – If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
  • Romans 8:11 – But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
  • John 7:37-39 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
