The Lord is always protecting us!
I. Speaking forth God’s Promises
- The promises of God (2 Peter 1:4 – …through which we are partakers of His divine nature) – there are thousands of them. We need to find them and claim them and declare them by faith.
- Declaring His Word – “I will say….” Psalm 91:2. Faith is activated by our words – (Romans 10-8-10) We need to decree with our mouths what God has decreed in His Word, and see His promises fulfilled in our circumstances and experiences.
- When facing a challenge and trial of faith say out loud, “In this particular situation _______ (name the situation out loud) I CHOOSE TO TRUST YOU, LORD.” The difference it makes when we proclaim our trust out loud is amazing. (p.21 – Ps 91 – “God’s Umbrella of Protection”, Peggy Joyce Ruth)
- Some quote Psalm 91 as thought it were some kind of magical wand, but there is nothing magical about this psalm. It is powerful and it works simply because it is the Word of God – alive and active. And, we confess it out loud simply because the Bible tells us to. (p19 – Ps 91 – God’s Umbrella of Protection” Peggy Joyce Ruth).
- It is not good enough just to mentally agree that the Lord is our Refuge. Power is released in saying it out loud. When we say it, and mean it, we are placing ourselves in His shelter. By voicing His Lordship and His Protection we walk in the door to the secret place. (p.19 – Ps. 91 “God’s Umbrella of Protection” by Peggy Joyce Ruth)
- More about God’s promises –
- 2 Corinthians 1:20,21 – For all of God’s promises find their “yes” of fulfillment in Him. And as Hi “yes” and our “amen” ascend to God, we bring Him glory! (TPT)
- Romans 15:8 – Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers..
- 2 Corinthians 7:1 – Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
- Galatians 3:16 – Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.
- Hebrews 6:12 – that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
- 2 Peter 1:4 – by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
- What has God said?
- The Holy Spirit of PROMISE –
- Acts 1:4,8; 2:33,39 – But wait for the promise of the Father…You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you… having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. This promise is to you and to your children, and to all that are afar off.
