RAISING A STANDARD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS – (G)
Isaiah 59:19 – So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will LIFT UP A STANDARD AGAINST HIM.
- Special note: Raising a standard against the enemy is part of the wonderful work of the HOLY SPIRIT! God is a GOD OF PEACE (Philippians 4:7,9). PEACE is a wonderful FRUIT OF HIS HOLY SPIRIT, and is desperately needed in a world where PEACE is missing. There is “NO PEACE to the wicked”, says the Lord (Isaiah 57:21).
Psalms 37:37 – Mark the perfect man, and behold the UPRIGHT: for the end of that man is PEACE.
Isaiah 32:17 – And the WORK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS shall be PEACE; and the EFFECT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS quietness and assurance for ever.
James 3:18 And the FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS is SOWN IN PEACE of them that MAKE PEACE.
Galatians 5:22 – The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, PEACE…
Psalms 72:3 The mountains shall bring PEACE TO THE PEOPLE, and the little hills, BY RIGHTEOUSNESS.
- Special note: The end result of RIGHTEOUSNESS IS PEACE. RIGHTEOUSNESS BRINGS PEACE! God’s Spirit of RIGHTEOUSNESS produces peace, and raises a standard of peace!
A STANDARD OF PEACE
Isaiah 9:6,7 – For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, PRINCE OF PEACE. Of the increase of His government AND PEACE there will be NO END, upon the throne of David to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
- Special note: Jesus is the “PRINCE OF PEACE”! His PEACE is eternal, and it has no end! He is raising a STANDARD OF PEACE in the world! The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish it!
Luke 2:14 – “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
- Special note: “PEACE on whom His favor rests”... He makes His PEACE available to us. Hallelujah!
John 16:33 – These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
THE ENEMY IS A DESTROYER OF PEACE
John 10:10 – The thief (devil) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
- Special note: The devil tries to steal and destroy PEACE. However, Jesus came to provide abundant and overflowing PEACE, and it is available to us by HIS SPIRIT. As we RESIST THE DEVIL – he must flee! (James 4:7)
OVERCOMING THINGS THE DEVIL USES TO TRY TO DESTROY OUR PEACE
There are many temptations we need to overcome. Our enemy might use some of our difficulties and uncontrollable circumstances to cause discontentment, complaint, and irritation instead of being opportunities to exercise trust in the Lord. In spite of it all, the Lord is worthy to be praised! Like Job said, “though He slay me, I will trust Him“ (Job 13:15).
There are peace and joy robbers. Difficult and seemingly unbearable relationships, financial pressures, job related challenges, health issues, stress and anxiety sometimes tend to try to get us down and out. Worry is destructive. We must keep our eyes on Jesus as our source of joy and peace in the midst of it all.
Sometimes we experience things that are unexplainable and uncontrollable. We don’t know the reasons why things are like they are. We might be tempted to let it get us down, and give place to depression. It is so easy to murmur and complain in our heart instead of steadfastly determining to give thanks to the Lord for His constant, unfailing faithfulness, and goodness.
We can be overcomers. Like Paul says in the midst of all these things We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). We can overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11).We overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).Jesus has put all enemies under your feet (I Corinthians 15:27; Ephesians 1:22) and can put all enemies under your feet (I Corinthians 15:25); the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet… (Romans 16:20).
GOD’S PERPETUAL, EVERLASTING COVENANT WITH US IS A COVENANT OF LIFE AND PEACE
Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the COVENANT OF MY PEACE be removed, says the LORD that has mercy on you.
- Special note: The Lord mercifully has made an everlasting COVENANT OF PEACE with His redeemed people (His bride – the church).
Ezekiel 34:25; 37:26 … “I will make with them a COVENANT OF PEACE”… (Spoken by the Lord – our true Shepherd)… I will make a COVENANT OF PEACE with them; it shall be an EVERLASTING COVENANT with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
Malachi 2:5 – MY COVENANT was with him OF LIFE AND PEACE; …
Numbers 25:12-13 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him (Phinehas) MY COVENANT OF PEACE: …A COVENANT of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.’ ”
- Special note: There is a COVENANT OF PEACE available to God’s chosen people.
JESUS GIVES A SPECIAL PEACE THAT IS NOT LIKE THE WORLD
(As mentioned above) John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that IN ME YOU MIGHT HAVE PEACE. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 14:27 –PEACE I leave with you, MY PEACE I GIVE UNTO YOU: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 – The LORD OF PEACE himself GIVE YOU PEACE by all means.
GETTING BETTER ACQUAINTED WITH THE LORD BRINGS PEACE
Job 22:21 – Acquaint yourself with God and BE AT PEACE.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF JESUS BIRTH WAS A DECLARATION OF PEACE

JESUS MINISTERED PEACE
Luke 7:50 – And he (Jesus) said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; GO IN PEACE.
Luke 10:5,6 And into whatsoever house you enter, first say, PEACE BE TO THIS HOUSE. 6 And if the SON OF PEACE be there, your PEACE SHALL REST UPON IT: if not, it shall turn to you again.

- The Lord is RAISING A STANDARD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. RIGHTEOUSNESS BRINGS PEACE.
- The KINGDOM OF GOD IS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND PEACE…
- The true peace, THE PEACE of God that COMES THROUGH JESUS is what the world needs. It brings EXALTATION TO A NATION. The lack of peace brings confusion and destruction.
- God’s COVENANT OF PEACE is powerful and eternal. PEACE was provided for us on the cross, BY JESUS.
- Some people don’t experience the blessing of PEACE THAT COMES FROM JESUS in their life because they reject Him, and disobey His commandments.
- Being SPIRITUALLY MINDED brings LIFE and PEACE. We can experience PERFECT PEACE when our minds are steadfastly, and trustingly set upon the Lord.
- There is no comparison of the PEACE THAT COMES FROM JESUS compared with that of the world. It’s like the difference between night and day. The wicked do not experience TRUE PEACE.
